Training:
At Broadway Home Care, we provide a top-level Personal Care Aide (PCA) program approved by the New York State Department of Health. Classes are taught by our experienced, registered nurses who utilize our state-approved curriculum. This curriculum combines lectures with hands-on demonstrations to educate and certify our students providing our employees with comprehensive qualifications as they begin their rewarding careers in home care.

Field RN FT/PT/Per diem

Overview: The Field Nurse is a registered professional nurse who supervises the care provided to clients by paraprofessional staff and provides direct nursing care per physician orders and agency policy and procedure. The Field Nurse will participate in care plan revision and case conferences with access agency case managers.

Qualifications: Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in the state wherein they are practicing and have a minimum of two (2) years experience as a registered nurse.

Responsibilities: Conducts the admission of the client and monitors the provision of care as well as changing care needs by:

  • Participating in care plan development in collaboration with access agency care managers as well as the client and caregivers.
  • Developing and documenting the plan of care and recording such documentation in the client’s records and with other care partners as agreed upon.
  • Orienting the aide to the plan of care and ensuring the aide is competent to participate in the care tasks assigned.
  • Evaluating the home setting for safety and appropriateness related to the care needs identified.
  • Evaluating the client’s environment to determine what assistance will be available from the family members or other caregivers to ensure client safety in the absence of agency personnel.
  • Providing direct nursing care per physician orders and agency policy and procedure.
  • Supervising the provision of care by paraprofessional staff per applicable rules and regulations.
  • Participating in the evaluation of field staff performance including but not limited to appearance, rapport with the client and family, compliance with executing assigned tasks.
  • Documenting ongoing evaluation of the client’s care needs and communicating the need for revisions with the appropriate resources.
  • Consulting with supervisors and staff, individually or in groups, regarding clients or families, special programs, or service programs.
  • Cooperating with other agencies providing nursing or related services to provide continuity of care and to implement a comprehensive care plan.
  • Maintains compliance with all agency policies and procedures.

Home Health Aide/ HHA

Home Health Aides (HHAs) are also certified professionals who provide care and assistance to sick, disabled, elderly, or fragile individuals. HHAs work in a home care environment (as well as in some facilities) and dedicate themselves to assisting individuals with daily activities such as using the bathroom, preparing meals, executing hygiene and grooming habits, taking medication, bathing, and completing housework or other chores.

HHAs are an important source of companionship for their clients and often join elderly or disabled individuals at community events or appointments, help them with arts or crafts, or play games with them. HHAs may also provide transportation, and in some cases, may live on-site with their clients.

The key difference between PCAs and HHAs is the level of training. Although both positions involve personal care, HHAs receive additional specialized training allowing them to attend to more complex meal plans, change simple dressings and procure basic vital signs.

Orientation RN FT/Per Diem

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Have students sign in and out
  • Collect and look out for fraudulent IDs
  • Update Caregiver Profile in HHAX
  • Administer and complete all HR paperwork
  • Ensure all paperwork completed by New Hires complies before submitting to the supervisor
  • Demonstrate/Observe required PCA/HHA skills
  • Ensure all New Hires are fully versed and trained on company policies and procedures
  • Send all HR paperwork to supervisor according to the given timeline
  • Instruct New Hires on all required In-Service topics
  • Report any issues or concerns to the supervisor

Position Summary: Responsible for training and orienting new PCA and HHA hires. Completes necessary paperwork and sends it to proper parties in a timely manner.

Qualification Requirements: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

Language Skills: Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group settings to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

Reasoning Abilities: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Other Skills & Abilities: Basic computer skills required; Microsoft Word and Excel a plus. Ability to utilize basic computer software integral to agency operations after the initial training period. Multi-tasking, ability to meet tight deadlines, detail-oriented and organizational skills are required.

PCA Trainer RN/Per Diem

Position Summary: Responsible to train PCAs and HHAs according to curriculum and conduct orientations and in-services. Prepares necessary supplies and communicates with proper staff with issues, needs, and observations.

  • PCA Class:
    • Conduct PCA Training Classes according to the schedule given by the Training Department
    • Follow NYSDOH PCA curriculum, allowing ample time for each topic and skill
    • Begin and end classes each day on time
    • Maintain updated knowledge base regarding curriculum requirements
    • Remain flexible and adaptive in providing instruction and supervision of PCA students
    • Complete all documentation necessary per DOH & agency policies and procedures
    • Instruct students on how to deliver care within the scope of their training and certification
    • Observe, assess and report any issues in student’s progress to the supervisor
    • Achieve a high student success rate by monitoring and measuring performance
    • Maintain a clean, tidy, and safe classroom
    • Maintain discipline and counsel students as necessary
    • Certify students on the last day of class
  • Orientation/In-service:

There is no experience required for the FREE PCA certification we offer in select counties. If you are a compassionate person and get along well with others this may be the perfect position for you.
